Abrakadoodle Art Classes Support School Learning Objectives!

So much happens in an Abrakadoodle art class! Yes, our students learn about artists from around the world. They also learn about different art styles and techniques, all while exploring a wide range of art materials. But this is only part of the picture!

Let’s take an imaginary step into an Abrakadoodle class where the teacher is introducing Beatrix Potter to students. Famous for her book illustrations of animals, she also wrote a book about mushrooms! Her drawings of things in nature were so accurate, they are referred to as scientific illustrations.

In this class students will have the opportunity to explore the beautifully illustrated books of Beatrix Potter and learn new “arty” vocabulary words. They will also learn how attention to detail can enable artists to create very realistic images of things in nature.  What would your book about mushrooms look like? Beatrix Potter also loved drawing animals like rabbits, ducks and squirrels. Maybe you might pick something else found in nature, as she did. What would you write about them?

Our school partners value the scope of our fine arts curriculum, as well as the cross-curricular reach of our lessons. They also welcome Abrakadoodle lessons that reflect  STEAM-based themes. They value the multi-cultural nature of lessons that take students around the world while they paint, draw, sculpt and more!

Importantly, they also recognize that Abrakadoodle programs support the reading and literacy goals of schools, as students are immersed in learning new vocabulary and points of view, as well as gain greater comprehension of the world around them through the arts.

We encourage our students to have fun and let their imaginations soar! Although Beatrix Potter’s scientific illustrations accurately portrayed elements in nature, she also added some “whimsy” to her beautiful watercolor and ink drawings….after all, Peter Rabbit also wore a jacket and shoes!
