Abrakadoodle of Montgomery, AL Launches Arts for All Programs

A special Valentine’s art project enabled participants to put their heart into a unique art project.


Awarded the Abrakadoodle Arts for All Scholarship during conference 2016, Abrakadoodle of Montgomery, Alabama has launched its grant-sponsored art program to benefit youth at the Brantwood Children’s Home. The Brantwood Children’s Home has since 1917 been providing a safe, stable, structured environment for abused, neglected and other “at risk” youth. At the heART of Arts for All is providing inspiring programming to engage children with art. According to Margaret Cornwell, co-education director of Abrakadoodle of Montgomery AL, Brantwood participants enjoyed their first project, which honored Black History Month with art constructed and displayed in each respective classroom.


Ms. Cornwell confirmed that Abrakadoodle has just conducted its second art workshop featuring Pop Art with a Valentine’s theme. They discussed famous artists and participated in Abrakadoodle lessons featuring Jim Dine, Romero Britto and Peter Max. The students had to use this inspiration to develop their own unique piece. Ms. Cornwell said, “The energetic flow of ideas and excitement over their completed work was invigorating for myself as an educator and artist. They inspired me!”
