“We are very pleased to welcome Carrie to our award-winning Abrakadoodle family,” said Rosemarie Hartnett, CFE, President and Co-Founder of Abrakadoodle, Inc. “With her master’s degree in Fine Arts and five years of experience teaching art to children in New York, in addition to her experiences as an accomplished artist, Carrie is well-positioned to develop a vibrant program to bring high quality art programs to benefit her historically and culturally rich Savannah community.”
Carrie Turner earned her bachelor’s degree from Drexel University and her MFA from the New York Academy of Art. According to Carrie, she was always drawing in her youth and her parents encouraged her talents early on, which was key to her success. Following graduation, she taught art for one the nation’s top nonprofits, bringing art to NYC public schools. One of her student’s artwork was even selected for display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of a children’s exhibition. Carrie said, “I am excited to share the joy of creating art with the people of this wonderful city.” Abrakadoodle’s programs inspire children’s imaginations by immersing them in a variety of art forms such as painting, sculpting, drawing, mosaics and collage. She adds, “It’s all about encouraging independent thinking through hands on, process-based art – learning to solve problems makes the difference in both art and life.”
